As of April 1st, 2013, Bel Fuse Inc. announced that it is acquiring Transpower magnetics business from TE connectivity for $22.4 million cash. The business had about $75 million in annual revenue and about 2,500 employees and its manufacturing facility in China. According to Bel Fuse’s president and CEO, the acquisition is a major step forward in increasing the company’s short and long term growth. Furthermore, the new division will help the company benefit from manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering synergies and improve their competitive positioning in the industry. Financial results for the 4th quarter of 2012 were reported to be $71.8 million, a 4.5% increase from the 4th quarter of 2011. 1st quarter 2013 earnings are expected to be released on May 1st.
