Motorola, founded in 1928, is a data and telecommunication company that has recently been broken into two independent public companies. As of 2011 they are now Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. On May 22, 2012 Motorola Mobility was acquired by Google. Total profits in 2012 for Motorola Solutions came out to $858 Million and Motorola Mobility came out to $3.4 billion in sales in the fourth quarter in 2012. Time will tell to see the effectiveness of this takeover. Motorola Mobility was the first to pioneer the flip phone dominating the world with the Razr. They focus on making mobile telecommunication devices which can be used in nearly every major industry. Motorola Solutions’ current CEO is Greg Brown and they focus on a more broad range of telecommunication and they sell devices, networks, systems, accessories and software. The current CEO of Motorola Mobility is Dennis Wood side and they plan in the future to focus on fewer products to bring attention to quality not quantity.
Motorola is present that delivers exceptional electronic and communication devices. It has given the electronics industry some of the greatest inventions. It is one of the oldest brands in the market which is creating high end communication devices. Semiconductors are designed specifically for high end use. The need to have this brand is because of the quality and performance delivered. International certification rules out in the case of Motorola as they believe are quality product.
