Aviation Part Types for Aircraft Maintenance and Repair

Aviation parts are used to inspect, maintain, repair, and equip aircraft, business jets, helicopters, and aerospace platforms. This directory organizes components by type, helping buyers find records when they know an item’s function but not its exact part number.

Parts for Aircraft Systems

Aircraft depend on components across structural, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, engine, and cabin systems. Common aviation part types include:

  • Airframe hardware: Brackets, clips, hinges, pins, fittings, latches, clamps, and mounting items.
  • Fastening products: Bolts, screws, rivets, nuts, washers, inserts, and locking hardware.
  • Electrical and avionics components: Connectors, relays, switches, sensors, indicators, displays, circuit assemblies, and EICAS controllers.
  • Fluid and mechanical parts: Valves, pumps, hoses, seals, bearings, filters, and hydraulic reservoir assemblies.
  • Cabin and support items: Lighting, interior fittings, safety equipment, servicing products, and maintenance tools.

The catalog contains manufacturer-defined descriptions, assembly names, standard-number references, abbreviations, and component-level records. Not every listing therefore fits neatly into one broad category.

Aviation Part Types by Application

These components support airlines, MRO facilities, repair stations, fixed-base operators, government agencies, aircraft manufacturers, and private operators. They may be needed for scheduled maintenance, component repair, inspections, modifications, inventory replenishment, or an aircraft-on-ground requirement.

The aviation parts catalog provides manufacturer, bearing, fastener, and standard-number browsing options.

Understanding Part-Type Names

Listings may use descriptions, manufacturer terminology, legacy names, or labels such as clamp attachment, hydraulic reservoir assembly, controller, or drive washer. If a search does not return the expected item, try a shorter description, alternate word order, or abbreviation.

A description alone cannot confirm suitability. Similarly named parts may differ in dimensions, materials, ratings, mounting arrangements, or approved applications.

Identify and Request the Correct Part

Compare the part number, manufacturer, NSN, CAGE Code, model, and technical references. Confirm installation eligibility using the Illustrated Parts Catalog, maintenance manual, drawing, or approved specification.

For an RFQ, provide the part number, quantity, condition, delivery deadline, and documentation requirements. If the number is unknown, include the description, aircraft details, dimensions, and markings to support identification.
