In an Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), an ATA chapter helps locate assemblies, figure and item references, and associated part numbers. Comparable records are organized within the broader IPC parts directory. In an Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), the chapter may organize system descriptions and maintenance procedures.
Confirm the aircraft manufacturer, model, variant, serial number, ATA chapter, IPC figure and item number, complete part number, revision, and installed configuration. An ATA chapter alone does not establish applicability, interchangeability, or installation approval.
ATA classification is separate from Parts Manufacturer Approval. When an item is represented as an FAA-approved replacement or modification article, PMA parts records may identify the approval holder and eligible product. The ATA chapter does not confirm PMA status.
