Brief History About ERNI Electronics: ERNI Electronics is one of the worlds leading manufacturers and suppliers of interconnects for telecommunications, data communications, computer, industrial, and medical markets. ERNI is one of the largest manufacturers that are in compliance with the DIN 41612, a standard for electrical connectors that is widely used in rack based electrical systems. DIN 41612 is currently the most widely accepted standard for industrial PCB components in the world.
ERNI Electronics GmbH & Co. KG belongs to the ERNI Group of companies that specializes in electrical engineering and electronics. ERNI has locations in Europe as well as 40 other countries. It employs approximately 650 employees, with annual revenue of 120 million EUR.
In recent news, ERNI has merged with Albatron, a contract manufacturing service provider that specializes in cable harnesses, plastic injection molding, and electronic product assembly. The expertise of these companies in connectors and cable assemblies make them a nice complement, as they aim to target the European market.
In addition, they have opened new offices in China, specifically Chengdu and Nanjing, increasing their presence in China beyond their already existing office in Hong Kong. With ERNI Asia and ERNI Europe, the company is expanding and looking to take up a larger global market share.
ERNI offers D-sub connectors, PCB connectors, I/O connectors, enclosures, systems, automotive connectors, COM-boards, tooling and presses, and a variety of other lesser used connectors. In 2012, they extended their popular line of MicroCon connectors, adding more versions that allow from 12 to 140 different heights.
They have also added new specifications to their most popular ERmet ZD and ERmet ZDplus connectors that quadruples bandwith, enabling a single chassis to handle 10 terabit transfers. This advanced TCA 3.1R2 specification will aim to build on the already very profitable ERmet series. The company also introduced the 90 degree angled M12 circular connector, which adds to and completes the M12 series.
