Headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, Bossard Group is a global designer and manufacturer of fastening technology—including screws, nuts, bolts, woodscrews, washers, and pins. Founded in 1831 as a hardware store, Bossard today supports a product range exceeding 800,000 items. In addition to producing fastening components, the Group also provides technical consulting (engineering) and inventory management (logistics). In the summer of 2014, Bossard won a substantial three-year contract with California firm Tesla Motors. Founded in 2003, Palo Alto-based Tesla Motors is a popular manufacturer of electric vehicles (EV), as well as EV powertrain components for partners including Toyota and Mercedes. The agreement, worth USD$140 million, is for Bossard to produce fasteners, engineering, and logistical services. The significance of this partnership has driven Bossard to open a new distribution facility near the Tesla factory in Fremont, California. This collaboration is not the first between Bossard and Tesla.
