CSI Wins $73.5 Million Contract to Supply Husky 2G Vehicle-Mounted Mine Detectors to Iraqi MoD

Announced February of 2015, Critical Solutions International (CSI) in partnership with DCD Protected Mobility (OEM of Husky vehicles) was chosen to supply an undisclosed number of Husky 2G systems to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense (MoD). The contract, worth $73.5 million USD, will allow the Iraqi government to safely clear pathways and routes from explosives placed by the likes of ISIS.

The Husky 2G Vehicle-Mounted Mine Detector (VMMD) system is an upgrade of CSI’s previous Husky MKIII VMMD, a vehicle recognized by the US Army in 2011. The 2G is manned by two operators, with one maneuvering the vehicle and the other monitoring sensor systems. The armored vehicle utilizes high-sensitivity, pulse induction metal detectors, ground-penetrating radars (the NIITEK VISOR 2500), and video imaging technology (the TORC Robotics 360 Situational Awareness camera) to detect and identify landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The Husky 2G is also fitted with a heat-sensing detection crane (the FASCAN Interrogation Arm) which allows operators to handle suspicious objects from within the safe confines of the vehicle. In addition, the vehicle is protected from RPGs, shrapnel, and other kinetic threats with a QinetiQ North Americas QNET light-weight armor system.
