JBT Awarded $6 Million Aviation Support Deal from US Navy
JBT Corporation has been awarded over USD$6 million from the United States Navy for mobile power equipment. Under this contract, JBT will provide engineering and designing of prototypes for new-generation mobile shipboard power generator equipment. It is to be used by Navy and Marine Corps aircraft that will be based on aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships.
Navy specifications require JBT’s equipment to meet military standards by being able to withstand the effects of shipboard shock and vibration, extreme temperatures, humidity and salt spray, and electro-magnetic interference (EMI). All of the products must also be efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly. The engineering contract, which was signed this past Tuesday, showed the continued trust that exists between JBT and the US Navy. "We are very pleased with this ground-breaking award from the U.S. Navy for our mobile aviation support equipment," said AeroTech’s President Dave Burdakin. JBT Corp.’s AeroTech segment designs, manufactures, tests and services technologically sophisticated systems and products for domestic and international air transportation customers. "This award is further demonstration of our long-standing relationship with the U.S. Navy and our ability to service their needs with state-of-the-art equipment solutions." This contract order is a first phase of a larger potential multi-year equipment contract. The order was received in the first quarter of 2015, with delivery on the project expected to be initiated in 2016. JBT Corp was founded in 1884 as the Bean Spray Pump Company.
