Based in Springfield, Missouri Positronics is a global manufacturer of electronic connectors. Their products are used for military, space, commercial aerospace, medical, industrial, and rail applications. There are a variety of connector in high power, D-sub, rectangular, modular and circular types. The company was founded in 1966 and began expanding to other countries in 1983. First they moved to Europe. Then they expanded to Puerto Rico in 1991, Singapore in 1995, and India in 2004. As of 2010 they have 800 employees worldwide including 442 in the Missouri plant. In 1993 they became the first company in Springfield to receive ISO 9000 standards.
Latter they earned ISO 9001 certifications in 2007 and AS9100 certifications in 2009. Many Positronics connectors feature a single function/ single material system. The design separates the connector by its function into two pieces. The mechanical and electrical functions are divided so that one material is utilized on each side. The mechanical side uses a material that is optimized for the mechanical function while the electrical component uses a material that is optimized for the electrical function. By designing connectors in this way energy is conserved and the voltage drop across the contact is minimized. Positronics also provides custom cable assemblies for their connectors. Their cables can be custom built to any customer specifications. All cables are tested and adhere to IPC620 standards. Other than Cable and wire harness assemblies positronic can produce EMI/RFI shielded assemblies,
coaxial cable assemblies, kitting services, overmolding, and potting. The custom cable assemblies serve the military and aerospace industries as well as others.
