For the third year running, Embraer’s Phenom 300 business jet had the most deliveries in the world. After being bestowed with the same honor in the last two calendar years, the three-peat was completed in 2015 after Embraer saw its sales reaching seventy aircraft bought by customers all over the world. The jets are currently operated by nearly thirty different countries. President and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets Marco Tulio Pellegrini expressed his gratitude to the loyal users of the aircraft, and noted that it was a testament to the capabilities they provide. Beginning in July 2016, Michelin Aircraft Tire Company will be the main supplier on the final assembly line for the Boeing 777-300ER, the 777-200LR, and the 777 Cargo. These carriers will be flying over 7370 nautical miles and can transport up to 400 passengers per flight.  President Frank Moreau of the Michelin Aircraft Tire Company is “proud to have been selected by Boeing as its official partner”. Honeywell International and United Technologies Corporation, the aerospace giants, have recently held talks regarding a potential merger which would create for a $94 billion sales conglomerate. These talks have been taking place over the span of the last two weeks, and have been focusing on a deal in which Honeywell International parts would offer a premium in the form of cash and in stock, for the smaller United Technologies Corporation. Dornier Seawings announced at this year’s Singapore Airshow that production will start for the Seastar. After two years of development and upgrades The Seastar is said to be “the world’s most advanced amphibious aircraft”.  The European Aviation Safety Agency is set to award Dornier Seawings an amended Type Certificate in the second quarter of 2018. Dornier Seawings plans to roll out the final product to their customers, later that year. Read more >>

After being granted an airworthiness certificate, Bombardier has received the final go ahead to start delivering its C Series jet to customers. The C Series is intended to fill a perceived market gap between regional jets and the A320 and 737 commercial jets manufactured by Airbus and Boeing. Read more >>

The United States Air Force is expected to award an extremely lucrative contract for the development and production of a fleet of 80 to 100 long-range stealth bombers. This initial contact is estimated to be valued at $60 billion, one of the largest contracts in Air Force history, and is the culmination of a four-year battle among three of the world’s leading military contractors. Orbital ATK, a global leader in defense and aerospace technologies, has recently completed the final testing and validation for its new Ramjet Test Facility. Based in Rocket Center, West Virginia, the facility will feature a clear-air testing environment for flying trajectories at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL). Naval Sea Systems Command has committed to funding the new facility, and owns the site which houses the ABL. Orbital ATK’s Ramjet Test Facility precisely mimics the operational set of parameters for tactical air-breathing solid propulsion systems, with temperatures reaching upwards of 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit as well as air mass flow which can simulate up to Mach 4.5. This test facility offers real-world simulation, accompanied with a clean-air environment free from combustion byproducts. Read more >>
